Does every iteration of the Board really have to publicly pat themselves on the backs every time they do their job somewhat well? We added six seats to a bar…time for a plaque! We planted some new flowers outside OPA offices…someone get a plaque ready! Our annual assessment fell by eight dollars…let go get ourselves a plaque! We sent out a holiday greeting that we didn’t steal from some professor, but actually took the five minutes to write ourselves…plaque-time! 

It is just the silliest possible manifestation of ego and self-promotion. “Look, everyone... I did my job! Now recognize me and clap for me…!” Not that I don’t get a bit of a chuckle at the preening, posturing and peacocking, but come on, fellas…

The next logical step is to begin putting up Participation Plaques every time the Board attempts to get something accomplished but fails for whatever reason. “To Commemorate That Time We Almost Accomplished Our Goals But Ultimately Did Not…”
