Incident: Vandalism and Assault

Location:  Newport Drive, Ocean Pines, MD

 

Suspect: Joseph R. Pavese, 38, Ocean Pines, MD

            

Narrative: On August 29, 2024, at 4:51 PM, officers from the Ocean Pines Police Department responded to a reported altercation on Newport Drive in Ocean Pines. Upon arrival, the officers learned that a subject later identified as Joseph Pavese, had utilized a screwdriver to puncture a tire on a neighbor’s vehicle. The neighbor witnessed this from inside his residence so he called the police and went outside, at which point Pavese approached the neighbor and punched him in the face with a closed fist.

 

During the investigation, it became apparent that the intentional damage to the victim’s tire and the subsequent assault were both unprovoked.

 

The investigating officer placed Pavese under arrest and transported him to the Ocean Pines Police Department where he was processed and then taken in front of the District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance. Following that initial hearing, Pavese was detained in the Worcester County Detention Center without bond.
