Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Offshore Wind Lawsuit Msg# 1215853

Bruce, one issue I have not heard discussed, but I would hope it has at some point, is the Ocean City Inlet.
If I recall correctly the Corps of Engineers keeps that inlet open for only one reason - commercial fishing. If the offshore wind project pays commercial fishermen not to fish, will the Corps still maintain the inlet? If not, the cost to maintain it will have to be paid from another source. Ocean City? Have you heard any discussion of this issue? |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Well said Rick. Many thanks to Mayor Meehan and Ocean City Manager Terry McGean for taking the time to appear at the meeting. The Board has made a considered and important decision here and those present at the meeting were benefitted by the Mayor's compelling comments. Those not present should take a minute to watch the video. This is a critical legal as well as public policy issue. The litigation (in which my firm is working in support of expert DC counsel) is gaining additional, important plaintiffs each week, none more important than OPA, as the entire community joins together to oppose the offshore project and advance their collective interests. Importantly, OPA will participate in the litigation at no cost, as the City will be covering associated fees and costs. |
