Is it possible they felt that OPA should have been more vocal in their support?
I have no indication that was the case. In general, OPA coming out with news releases or whatever you envisioned to support Ortt would have just served to unnecessarily make the issue even more public. As far as I can tell, any attempt by the Knupp fanatics to boycott Ortt was a total failure. Their attacks on Ortt and his family, young children included, at a personal level were shameful. Ortt did tell me that Esther Diller was very helpful during that trying time. There were board members and at least one ex-board member who more or less promised Ortt that his contract would be renewed. That ex board member supposedly said "give Ortt whatever he wants" when the Ortt contract was renewed five years ago with no other bids. That was when Ortt's management fee was doubled from $100,000 a year to $200,000 a year and his cut of any profits improved. All in all, it was a sweetheart deal as the numbers now show. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Not OPA but there were some vocal folks who called for a boycott of not just the YC but the Ortt locations in OC. Is it possible they felt that OPA should have been more vocal in their support? |
