![]() ![]() Section 6: ECC/ARC/CPI Subject: Another Lot Totally Cleared Msg# 1219781

Tim has been following the tree clear cutting issue for a while. He wrote Josh Vickers (who is responsible for signing off on the permits) and the info line about this particular property and included a before and after photo. Mr. Vickers reported that there was no violation on this property under the building footprint plan. Obviously the builder could've saved trees along the left side and the front of the property. The clear cutting went all the way back to the 35 foot limit. This clear cutting was never permitted but now is common. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Next time you drive Ocean Parkway near Pintail Park, take note that the lot on 598 Ocean Parkway has been totally ripped of all trees by a builder, similar to the lot across from you last year. I just don't get it. We have DRs and regs that homeowners must follow but builders of an empty lot do not. Existing homeowners are limited to tree removal if the tree is 10 feet or less from the house foundation, 3 feet or less from the driveway, dying, damaged or otherwise a danger and trees less than 6 inches in diameter. Why are builders allowed to cut down perfectly healthy trees that are more than 10 feet away from the planned foundation ---- and existing homeowners cannot? Or more than 3 feet away from the planned driveway ---- and existing homeowners cannot? |
