Why is it taking so long to repair the Glen Riddle sewage plant? | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: It seems we go around this question annually without a solution. This is the first report I am aware of when we see the county has borrowed $9.2 million from the General Fund to LOAN to some service areas where the ratepayers are not paying enough to support the operation. The county has, I presume, every legal right, to run lines from the OP plant to provide sewage treatment for Riddle or any other location. However, providing this extended service should not be paid for by the existing ratepayers of the Ocean Pines service area. Any newly added areas should also pay a premium to reimburse the OP service area for a fair share of the infrastructure costs that provided the OP facility. That is the issue. And a force main should be built to handle the flow instead of trucking. Trucking is only being done because the Glen Roidle plant is not functioning properly for the last three or four years and will not be fixed for another two or three years! The county intends to spend $3.6 million to fix the Glen Riddle plant and aftet that happens there should be no reason the truck Glen Riddle sewage to OP for treartment. I believe the county Public Works intent in running a line from OP to Glen Riddle is to eventually connect new businesses and homes on the south side of 50 (west of McDonalds) to the OP service area. |
