An alternative that I would favor is a new treatment plant across 50 paid for the businesses and residences that would use it.
You may have a point Ed. 12 million + for a new plant may sound like a lot until one looks at the millions that are being proposed to cobble together and repair the current system. The cost of a water treatment plant depends on its capacity. Generally, it costs $12 million for each million gallons per day (MGD) of average flow. Alternatively, you can base estimates on flows during peak hours at a rate of around $5 million per MGD. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: It seems we go around this question annually without a solution. I believe that OP rate payers have financed the expansions of the OP treatment plant through usage rates and special assessments. All sewage from outside areas should be priced at the going rate and charged to the source. And a force main should be built to handle the flow instead of trucking. An alternative that I would favor is a new treatment plant across 50 paid for the businesses and residences that would use it. It's no different than when ours was built using assessments and bonds. The County needs to climb that mountain instead of taking the easy way around it. |
