Mr. Stachurski is very transparent (and self-serving). He wants a municipality so he can move on to a paid position. (He intends to prepare by getting a decree in some related disipline.) He says it will be less expensive to convert to a municipality. (Yeah right, and I've got a Bridge in Brooklyn). You have salaries for the town representatives which always escalate, paid benefits and a pension or 401(k). We are talking $$$$. At least with volunteers, you have a better chance of replacing them, but once bureaucrats become ensconced in their positions, they are there forever. They become indebted to their supporters and also like the money, benefis, and power. Hopefully this next Board will be independent thinkers. I was astounded that when forced to take the Community Center to referendum, each and every Board member signed a letter indicating their support for the Center. A Community Center may be a great idea, but you need proper planning and finances in place. In their rush to put their names on the project, the prior Board neglcted to act in a responsible manner and forgot, "It's not their money." |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Outgoing OPA Director Dan Stachurski, as a parting shot, has again insulted a large segment of OPA property owners. The man should listen to his own words and move out of Ocean Pines. In a story appearing in the August 10th edition of OC Today, Stachurski again blathers on about Ocean Pines becoming a municipality. This time, however, he states, "If you want to vote here, you have to verify that this is your residence. Ocean Pines should be for the people who live here, not for the people who own property here. I don't want to live in a community where people who don't live here have any say in how the place is run." It appears Stachurski has finally shown his true feelings for at least 53% or so of OPA lot owners. How could he possibly have represented the best interests of all lot owners during his six years on the Board of Directors while holding such an opinion? |
