Rakow's comments should be a wakeup call to the entire community and a further indication that ECC/ARC is totally out of control and causing undue hardship on Ocean Pines lot owners with arbitrary decisions and collection of exorbitant fees.
While the Board just received an ad HOC ARC Committee report on revisions to guidelines used by the ECC, Director Wally Coleburn stated the Board has no authority to set guidelines for ECC. OPA President Glenn Duffy has subsequently said ECC is independent, opening the door to asking why the board is writing guidelines for ECC if ECC is indeed independent. How can the ECC be independent if the ECC has no control over the inspectors hired by OPA?
There are lots of lot owner questions but the board essentially ignores then. One board member has essentially said if lot owners have a problem they should sue OPA -- the equivalent of "Let them eat cake" and certainly not a reasonable way for the board to respond to legitimate lot owner concerns over policy and law related to the ECC and enforcement of the Declaration of Restrictions.
