Ahhh, so let's put a EMS vehicle at every home if three minutes are that important. Life and death situations are now funny. Incredible! Several years ago the Maryland State Police put bids out to replace their Bell helicopters. The lowest bidder was Bell Helicopter but although it cost millions more, the State of Maryland allowed the State Police to purchase the more expensive Dauphin helicopters. The sole reason was it would allow trauma victims to reach Shock Trauma an average of five minutes sooner. Those five minutes meant the difference between life and death for a lot of victims. The point being, fire and EMS issues are different and need to be considered with that knowledge in mind. And that doesn't mean if one person in the OPVFD says to A, OPA should blindly follow. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Taking three more minutes to get to an EMS call is the difference between life and death. Really! Ahhh, so let's put a EMS vehicle at every home if three minutes are that important. BTW, there is no EMS service on the northside now, and I have not heard that one is contemplated. Also note the EMS service can go under the Route 90 bridge within OP, a problem for larger fire fisghting vehicles. As usual however, OPA debates issues without facts. For example, how many firers were on the northside n the last five years. Of those what percentage of the time did the apparatus from the southside station reach the location before the apparatus from the northside station? OPA doesn't know such fundamental factual information because it won't even ask. |
