Bob, option one is really a bandaid and would not do much to improve the appearance or useability of the building. In my view Option 1, as presented, is consuding and misleading. It amkes people think the option will produce something decent. It won't. $350,000 is only a start to properly maintain the building. To do the exterior walss and some fixing on the inside woudl add another $200,000 or more. Why spend $600,000 or so to do a half-baked rehab when a complete rehab could be done for about $1.2 million? The complete rehab would appear to be a new building, inside and out. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: My bad, I support Option 1 as it has the lowest cost per square foot to get usable space. If the Option 3 building could be at a different location, then I would support that only after there was clear support for the space and a agreement to support the funding required for Option 3. (Option 4 mislead me giving me the impression that Option 1 and 3 were separate efforts.) This may not be the place to discuss Option 3 in depth, but I don't really understand the firm requirement for more space. If it is primarily for community club meetings, then those clubs that have that desire and requirement should spearhead the effort through their membership and raise funds to support a portion of the costs through their club activities. If it's for an exercise room, some club should take that as a goal and raise the community funds and community support to fund the rest of the project. JMHO All the best. |
