Rick: Please do not quote me out of context. I am very, very confident that we are in a position, at least for the short term, to enter into a FIRM contract to accomplish the renovation depicted in the rendering for less than $1,300,000.00. I would stake my reputation on it and said so at the meeting. Marty |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Why spend $600,000 or so to do a half-baked rehab when a complete rehab could be done for about $1.2 million? A complete rehab will not cost $1.2M. A complete rehab will cost much more. The first preliminary estimate was between $1.2M - $1.6M. I'd look toward the $1.6M and higher for any complete rehab. Director Marty Clarke has stated, "There is a huge difference between option number one and number two. Huge. Under number two the building is made ADA compliant, new bathrooms, fire systems (including sprinkler), windows and doors, siding, all new reconfigured space to include the fire department space, and so on, and so on." Therefore if Item 1 is a new roof and a few cosmetic issues at a cost of $600,000, there is absolutely no way that this "huge difference between option number one and number two" will only cost an additional $600,000. No way. It will be much more. The complete rehab would appear to be a new building, inside and out. This is the way to go. Besides, the membership is not about to approve a $4M plus referendum to build yet another new community center. |
