Al: "Now, how would you do that sort of accounting with all those non-golfers in the room" The FREE food was exclusively for the golfers. We had to pay for our two orders of Barbecue shrimp. That makes the accounting pretty easy, but, your right "what"s the point?". Marty |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: My biggest concern is that the cost of the room, set up, and the food is charged to the Yacht Club and not the Golf Operation. Now, how would you do that sort of accounting with all those non-golfers in the room? Besides, if the room and attendant costs are charged to the golf operation, instead of the Yacht Club, doesn't the cost merely shift from one losing business to another? So, what's the point? Okay, I know where you are coming from: no free meeting space. I don't want to get into a debate with you on this because the issue is too convoluted for my simple mind to comprehend. "What's an amenity?" "The meeting room is covered in our assessments." "Which organizations have a means to pay?" "Would they have to raise money to operate, and what does that mean in terms of the nature of the organization?" and so on and so forth. Maybe the policy should be something like, each receives according to its need or gives according to its ability. No, wait. That's the Communist Manifesto. Maybe instead you could appoint some brilliant people (don't buy another consultant) get them to study the situation and make a recommendation to the Board. |
