Some large pieces of fire apparatus can't use the underpass. If a piece of equipment can't get under the underpass that creates a big problem. You certainly don't want to drive from Ocean Parkway at the underpass back to Rt. 589, down Rt. 589 and then into the south entrance of OP just to get to a fire at the YC or a condo highrise. Any fire station should be located on the north side as close to Rt. 589 as possible. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: One of the problems with the property between the rt 90 underpass and the Harbor Village sign would be access for the large equipment to the South side. Some large pieces of fire apparatus can't use the underpass. If they are needed say at the YC and were located on the other side of the underpass, they would have to go all the way around to get to the YC. That property isn't a good choice. Gail |
