Joe, that is a fair question. I cannot say with 100% certainty and maybe Bill Rakow/Marty Clarke can comment but I believe that preliminary meetings have been held with the "permitting gods" down in Snow Hill in an attempt to try to find potential areas of "concern" by those kind folks. From what I remember, those meetings went well and some of the potential "problems" (stormwater management, etc) will not be as "bad" as once thought. I am also not sure what OPVFD has obtained in the way of guidance from their architect with their meetings with the same folks. If this project goes to referendum (and my 'gut' feeling is, that it will), these are the type of questions that will HAVE to be answered in order to alleviate any fears or concerns about this before the membership will support it. I am not going to predict whether or not the OPVFD will be able to obtain the permits in a 'normal' matter or not but I haven't heard anything to the contrary.(Yet |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Reid, that was a good overall review. It does appear, short of any last minute changes, that the fire department will move to Public Works. The Community Hall will be rehabbed and will not include space for the fire department. The fire department will seek permits for and build a new facility in White Horse Park. What happens if the fire department cannot obtain a permit to do what they want to do? |
