If this project goes to referendum (and my 'gut' feeling is, that it will), these are the type of questions that will HAVE to be answered in order to alleviate any fears or concerns about this before the membership will support it. My feeling is that if this rehab gets anymore complicated and everyone is insisting it is going to harm our "open space" at WHP, and the price keeps going up, we are going to have the same situation we've all had before, a big fat NO. All the membership is going to hear are the "issues" and what is needed, what is not needed, how the fire dept. is on their own with the land we are giving them, and so on and so on. I would venture to say, IMHO, we are heading toward another disaster. What was a simple rehab of a falling down Community Center, will "look" like the BOD is trying to build another Taj Mahal. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Joe, that is a fair question. I cannot say with 100% certainty and maybe Bill Rakow/Marty Clarke can comment but I believe that preliminary meetings have been held with the "permitting gods" down in Snow Hill in an attempt to try to find potential areas of "concern" by those kind folks. From what I remember, those meetings went well and some of the potential "problems" (stormwater management, etc) will not be as "bad" as once thought. I am also not sure what OPVFD has obtained in the way of guidance from their architect with their meetings with the same folks.
