The last I heard, and don't hold me to this as I have not been invited to these related meetings, is the projected size of that new fire station would take "about an acre" from White Horse Park - and if I remember correctly, that is about 210' x 210' (approximately).  The entrance will be on Ocean Parkway.  This should help you "visualize" the project.   I have no idea how many trees would have to come down with the full project but you are correct that a lot will be taken down.

Does the acre include the requisite pond? I am remembering a larger amout of space....close to two acres with firehouse, parking and pond.  I could be wrong.

I have been over to the park to "visualize" the project. That is WHY I am so very upset.

I lived in White Horse for four summers and I know it well. We rented the first house on Crow's Nest that backs up to the park one summer also, so I can remember how that looked from the other side of the park.

The area where the firehouse will be is used a great deal in summer. Last Saturday there was a large picnic in the Pavillion area and folks fanned out all around it. We have all sorts of activites there and the recreation dept. uses the area during summer camp.

I think people are just not aware of what is  about to happen and when the realization comes.....the feathers are going to hit the fan.......BIG TIME.

We don't need a huge community center....according to the Zogby report ...and we don't need to destroy our park to house a couple of firetrucks.

THIS MAKES LITTLE SENSE.
