While we will gain some space and will be able to provide a very nice, "like-new" Community Hall I believe, firmly, that it is the OPVFD that "drove" this decision and not the need for more meeting space. I watched the video where, in an off hand comment you specifically asked the FD representative whether they "really" needed this new space and was surprised to see a rather nonchalant response. I also remember comments from the FD that they would be willing to stay where they are already located. Sorry, but I believe the desire to have that additional space, now occupied by the FD, for the CH rehab was the real driver behind this whole issue. Do you really believe, that if there was no CH rehab at all, the FD would be asking to have a substantial portion of White Horse Park to build a new station? |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Jack, While there could be many opinions as to why the move of the FD out of the Community Hall, here is my opinion: I believe that the bottom-line reason is that the Board of the OPVFD wants this move to take place so that they will have a station of their own and that is totally controlled by them. It is my impression that they believe that they will be better able to support the Association from a new facility that will house three large pieces of equipment. I concur in that belief. I did request that our Board ask the FD more questions so that we could document and inform our membership of why we agreed to this move. The Board did not agree to do so. Unfortunately, many members share your opinion, and my saying otherwise most likely won't change your mind.
