But I guess it has to be that way incase the FD can't get a building permit to build a new station.... Robert, you aren't following closely. The rehab of the Community Hall is going forward on the premise that the fire department will no longer be in the building. The question is what happens IF the fire department cannot obtain a building permit. The fire department has an existing contract going back 20 or more years giving them the right to space in the existing Community Hall. In short, there are unanswwered questions. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Joe, and the fire department just moves back to a refurbished section of the Community Hall. Unbelievable.... I can not understand why anyone would want to rehab the community hall with a garage type area in it. Since the FD is getting a piece of land to build a new station, I would have thought that the rehab would have included upgrading the old FD area to something other then a garage, maybe say offices or meeting rooms or something. But I guess it has to be that way incase the FD can't get a building permit to build a new station.... I guess putting everything on hold until the FD obtains a permit would be unheard of, cause I really believe that if the FD obtained a building permit, then OPA could rehab the old garage part of the community center to something of greater value other then a garage.
