Robert: The idea of what is essentially a minimum food and beverage quota is not new to Ocean Pines. As a matter of fact most "private" Country Clubs and Yacht Clubs do have a food and beverage minimum. We are all members of the Ocean Pines Association, Inc. which owns the Yacht Club like it or not. The cost of the building is part of our assessment and that is a fact. What bothers most is the gross operational loss generated by that facility. Last years operational loss is over $140,000.00. Had each and every member spent just $83.00 on food and drink the Yacht Club would have broken even. If the membership is not willing to spend $83.00 of their dinning out money at the Yacht Club then they need to tell the board what they want us to do with their facility. Marty |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: The BOD election is getting close, I would just like to remind folks that during the candidate forum, Mr. Gomsak thought that raising assessments a few dollars and giving us food and beverage tokens that must be spent at one of the clubs was a good idea. I guess he thinks that by increasing assessments and having us spend tokens for food and beverage at Terns, beach club or YC will make it seem not like a subsidy. Our food and beverage operation is losing money, so why not just raise assessments, give them tokens to spend (there own money) and make it seem that food and beverage operation has turned around... You can't make this stuff up. I would like to direct you to : 1:11:56 on the candidate forum video. Compare Mr.Gomsak's comment about the tokens to the other candidates. Robert.
