Marty, You have been very much more responsive than many other BOD members, past and present. Bill Rakow has also. Thanks to you both for the straight foward approach from you two, and for some dialog And you've both got our family's BIG appreciation for getting the new and better community hall a "done deal" Yes, a 20% profit ratio seems OK. Probably you and Bill don't belong in the category of slick politicians, but the tactic of taking a large loss figure, and dividing it down by the numbers of residents fits into the "slick politician" category, IMO. But the YC still remains a nagging, current problem. It would be nice to sometimes hear something like: "I'll pass along your poor experience at the YC to . . . the Mgmt, or the Clubs committee, or the BOD liaison person to the club., an ombudsman ??" And then some acknowledgement back to the people registering complaints, that things are being addressed. Some complaints could be addressed. Obvious examples are -- Bar tenders not knowing how to make the drink-of-the-day, a bunch of "bogus" reserved signs on tables, when there were no large parties expected, preparing an "off menu" item, a BLT sandwich, and there are possibly many other examples that could be addressed. And a return personal contact, and perhaps apology, could mend some fences. I've heard of restaurants that will offer a complementary drink, as an apology, for the next return visit (with dinner purchase) where there was a legitimate complaint. Obviously there are some gripes that would deserve a non-response. But it seems that all complaints go into some "black hole" and are never being addressed. I believe there's an opportunity for improvement. And its been much needed, for many years. Tom

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Tom: My number is based on a 20% profit ratio which should be very conservative for beer sales. My scenario is nothing more than an obviously simple fix, nothing more or less. Is it anymore "unrealistic" or "problematical" then asking our staff to make everyone happy in a neighborhood where some want hot dogs and fish sticks while others want steak and lobster? "It seems this example is just another way to say that any number of a large loss ($140,000) becomes a much smaller number if spread over a large number of residents" Duh! Your "slick politicians", Marty Clarke |
