Hi Rick, I noticed the first bit of encroachment when it first appeared, and then there was a bit more, but practically speaking it does not affect our parking spots in any way. If we decide to use the area that was our docking space, they will have to move it, and they need to realize that is a possibility. Since they brought it up and not OPA..the issue is on the table and there is no misunderstanding. Perhaps when travel becomes a real problem on the Rt. 90 .....and well it might...we may be more interested our Riparian Rights on the bay. There was a lot of boat traffic over there for a number of years. Going down to Rt. 50 and all the way back up to 50th Street was a real pain in the neck in summer traffic. It seemed like FOREVER before Rt. 90 was built and it is likely much worse now. The more congested Ocean City becomes, the more interested we may become in having a dock on our property again. ( I just love "riparian". If anyone watches "Keeping Up Appearances" on PBS, they know that Hyacinth uses that word often. Her "Riparian Picnic" episode was one of the funniest in the whole series. Ed almost falls off his chair laughing at that one. ) Nancy |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Regarding a written agreement on the encroachment, what sort of agreement? I wouldn't expect much if anything regarding this agreement. This is from the most recent Oct. 3rd edition of the Shore Progress. A site survey by consulting engineer Steve Soule earlier this year revealed some encroachments on the OPA’s property by Seacrets, including a wall that separates the parking area from the portion of the site that contains tidal wetlands. The OPA board apparently is not intending to make an issue of the encroachments. “I’m not sure it passes a ‘so what’ test. Leighton has been an excellent tenant over the years, and we enjoy good relations with him. We want that to continue,” Olson said several months ago. |
