I found the latest issue of the Progress quite information relative to the discharge permit issue . . . Beyond that, I have taken Tom Stauss to task for many of the characterizations you have mentioned in the same way I have taken you to task. Personally, I think both of you are so wedded to your specific positions that you are blind to the good points the other side is making. To you both, I say, the issue is not nearly as black and white as you would like to have us believe. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I suggest you read the Ocean Pines Progress for the case supporting what the Commissioners did. Interesting suggestion you made to BillZ. In the Progress he can find commentary describing:
How about this quote from the mid-June 2004 issue in commentary written by Tom Stauss about the possibility of Pennington Commons or other new subdivisions coming into the Ocean Pines plant, "Concerns about odor and additional discharge into the bay make it unlikely that the plant will be expanded beyond the 2.3 million gallons per day needed for buildout. The most likely site for some future north county wastewater treatment plant is far from Ocean Pine perhaps in some industrial property located between Bishopville and Selbyville." Stauss wrote that "It is financially and environmentally irresponsible" to oppose bringing in new subdivisions like Pennington Commons. However, both the Maryland Coastal Bays Program and Assateague Coastal Trust have testified at county public hearings against bringing in new subdivisions to Ocean Pines on environmental grounds, and Ocean Pines ratepayers have little chance of direct financial benefit. The Progress even carried a commentary from you. It contained the word naysayer about 8 or 10 times in reference to Ocean Pines residents.
