That's certainly not a fact that I'm overlooking. In most jurisdictions the document must be written by a planning commission and approved by a governing body following public hearings. All map and text amendments must follow the same process also. Its biggest advantage is the establishment of long-term goals. This tends to highlight actions which provide short-term solutions and long-term problems. I am always in favor of any process that has the requirement for public hearings. Of course, Nancy is right. Public hearings only work if the public attends. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: The real power rests in the comprehensive plan which should delinate where, how and when the county intends to develop. What you and Nancy are overlooking is that the Comprehensive Plan isn't the Comprehensive plan until approved by the commissioners. |
