Section 5: OPA Board Subject: OPA Loses IRS Case Msg# 823940

So... how much do you think OPA would have to pay to "retain" an attorney to cover every possible case it might encounter? What would be stupid is to pay such a retainer.
I have no idea what an attorney would expect or sign an agreement with OPA to be available and prepare the necessary paperwork to collect past due assessments. IMO, there are a lot of corporations and small businesses that have an attorney on retainer. Are you telling me that Joe Moore is paid everytime OPA calls him; Joe Moore is paid every time he attends a board meeting; and everytime he has his assistant/secretary/paralegal prepare a District Court suit for OPA? That, in my opinion is outrageous. I know we are in a rural county, but PLEEEEEEZ..... Linda |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: So... how much do you think OPA would have to pay to "retain" an attorney to cover every possible case it might encounter? What would be stupid is to pay such a retainer. As for what is being done or not done, you, and others, are assuming OPA and it's counsel are not pursuing all possibilities in a prudent manner. |
