Section 5: OPA Board Subject: OPA Loses IRS Case Msg# 823955

I have no idea what an attorney would expect or sign an agreement with OPA to be available and prepare the necessary paperwork to collect past due assessments.
Read the above again and tell me how the attorney would price such a limited retainer if, as you seem to desire, the retainer fee would cover any and all collection cases. Would it be based on 5 possible cases or 500? I suspect OPA does indeed have some sort of retainer agreement with Joe Moore. However, it is probably not a retainer in the sense you are describing a retainer here on the forum. I have a feeling the only way to have an attorney on a "Linda retainer" is for OPA to hire an attorney as an employee. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: So... how much do you think OPA would have to pay to "retain" an attorney to cover every possible case it might encounter? What would be stupid is to pay such a retainer. I have no idea what an attorney would expect or sign an agreement with OPA to be available and prepare the necessary paperwork to collect past due assessments. IMO, there are a lot of corporations and small businesses that have an attorney on retainer. Are you telling me that Joe Moore is paid everytime OPA calls him; Joe Moore is paid every time he attends a board meeting; and everytime he has his assistant/secretary/paralegal prepare a District Court suit for OPA? That, in my opinion is outrageous. I know we are in a rural county, but PLEEEEEEZ..... Linda |
