Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Vote YES on YC Referendum Msg# 839461

I totally support the construction of a new Yacht Club. This is a necessary amentity in our community and anyone who does not believe this is being naive in the matter. While I agree steps need to be taken to bring operational costs under control in order for the operation to make money rather than losing money, I believe this can & will be done with a new facility. This is a wonderful community for people to live, work, play in & visit. It deserves a high quality facility such as being proposed. Let's stop putting our heads in the sand and vote YES.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I don't want a new 4.3 Million YC Then you should vote NO on the referendum. I don't want the current structure to be refurbished and repaired. You have no vote on that matter if the board decides to do a refurb under the referendum limit. You may not like it, but those are the by-laws. Did you vote YES to approve the by-laws back in 2008 or so? Most people did. I want OPA to get out of the restaurant and catering business...but the membership is not being asked that question.Tear it down, no need for a restaurant ( plenty in the area) Do you really expect an OPA board to put out a referendum asking for a YES or NO to tear down the YC? Regardless, if you, or any group of people, want such a choice all it takes is about 1000 signatures on a petition to referendum and then association members can vote on it. Strictly guessing, I'd bet such a vote would go 70-80% against your position. |
