Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Vote YES on YC Referendum Msg# 839689

Jack
I just picked up our ballot and got to say I was amazed at the size of the envelope. I have not received that much material on a project since I left the procurement business. I just wonder how much all of this advertisement is costing. A seperate mailing by the president, full page brochures in the local papers and now this slick document tell me why I should vote yes. But i guess it willing dose not matter as it is being funded by OPM (you know "Other People's Money) for a facility that based on pass history is to big to Breakeven. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: If this referendum passes I would suspect that there would not be a majority in favor of closing the facility in the off season. I am afraid a yes vote will be seen as a mandate for the failed "open for business plan". Marty, you make some excellent points but what makes this vote one of the most complicated I have seen in years is that some property owners have an opinion that supports neither one of the two options that are being presented by OPA. A yes vote could certainly be seen as a mandate for a failed restaurant operation. On the other side a no vote could also be seen as a mandate for a rehab of the current facility that you support when the intent of the no vote may actually be to tear down the current facility but replace it with a smaller seasonal one that costs less than the 4.3 million proposed. My referendum ballots are sitting on my kitchen table waiting for an epiphany to strike me before I check one of the boxes. |
