I still feel the committees need a solid orientation program that is ongoing for new committee members that extends beyond the resolution defining their duties. Keep up the good work Joe.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: This orientation is a BOD responsibility! Absolutely. Unfortunately, nearly every board, in my experience, views the transparency provisions of the HOA Act as something to be manipulated as much as possible in order to get around the intent of the law. Board members tend to not like the HOA Act. If any association member brings up the transparency provisions of the HOA Act, the first response by any board is invariably to contact Joe Moore and ask how the board can get around it with some legal mumbo-jumbo. An association member's only recourse is to file suit in court. That's not likely, so the board just continues to do what it pleases. I have told the board on more than one occasion that it should embrace transparency, not work to avoid it. |
