Four gentlemen just spent two entire days this week digging up the cul-de-sac in front of my house. Between them they had three pickups, a backhoe and trailer, a huge vacuum truck and a dump truck. We have had two pipes feeding two homes leaking under the middle of the road for two months which created a quagmire on one side of the circle.
I was told that the major problem in OP is, as I believe Jack stated, blue plastic pipe. They said that at the time it was installed, it was code mandated. Currently however, it is outlawed. The black pipe they use now has a much thicker wall and is much less suceptable to cracks and splits. Most of the road cuts are for water pipes. When you see digging on the yard side of the ditches, that is often sewer problems. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: And then there is the constant ongoing maintenance because of waterline breaks due to failure of the plastic piping that runs from the main to the water meters. Was the use of plastic piping a mistake? Seems like we have a lot of breaks if the square cuts in the road is any indication. I thought it was the sewer pipeline that was failing. |
