You were definitely one cool cat.
On a related A/C subject, while on a trip to the far east in my Air Guard days we overnighted at Hickam AFB. We drew a car from the motor pool since we were going to be there for a few days due to maintenance. When we returned the car to the NCO we said that the A/C didn't work on this American Motors beauty. He said, "none of them work. The base commander had us disconnect them on all the vehicles. He said we don't need A/C in Hawaii." Just another example of military intelligence. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: We were looking at it in the late '50's when A/C was a virtual unknown and $3,500 was also an unknown quantity to the two of us. Remember the after market AC kits that were sold? Big chrome jobs that fit on the tunnel under the dash. They also sold aftermarket seat belt kits. Somehow, somewhere along the line, I ended up with one of those chrome foots that fit on the accelerator pedal and a small one for the dimmer switch on the floor. |
