We've not had any heavy rain lately that caused flooding since the fall. I live near the intersection of Beaconhill and Pinehurst that's close to Bainbridge Pond. Last spring OPA unclogged one of the two drainage pipes under Beaconhill from the pond and it seemed to help. Unfortunately they haven't done anything since then and the drain pipe is obstructed again and the ditches have a lot of debris in them. I've given up on waiting for OPA to vacuum the ditch leaves. They didn't show up in my section (3) until the first or second week in January so I just bagged them. You would think OPA would give special attention to those areas that flood but guess not. Bill |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Hi Bill, I am wondering ...if there has been significant rain lately, how was the drainage situation? Where do you live? We are on Sandyhook, but back up to the house on Pinehurst that faces the mailboxes on that entrance to the park...at the mailboxes. The ditch next to the gravel road looks every bit like a CANAL when it rains. The water backs up in the yards on Pinehurst every time it rains hard for a while. Just wondering if things are any better now. We are so lucky that the water does not come over on our property....but we feel awful about what some folks are going through! Our neighbors further up Sandyhook have had deep water. We were in OP last on Jan.6 and a lot of the ditch leaves that we had raked to the edge of the street had blown back into the ditch. We are coming down next Sunday, and I hope to see a clean right of way out front. It seems that they would try to get the leaves in our area first because of the drainage problems! Nancy weber |
