Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Section 3 Drainage Msg# 876819

Based on what was said at the board meeting on Tuesday, all the pipes and ditches in the area have now already been cleaned.
I can assure you this is not true. My neighbor raked the leaves out of the ditch in front of the mailboxes on Beaconhill in late November and they're still laying there. The OPA workers didn't even bother to vacuum them up so most have blown back into the ditch, which is now clogged up.This ditch is the main drainage out of Bainbridge Pond. Bill |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: We need to spend some of ours on DRAINAGE for those people whose homes are flooded on a regualr basis. The board has previously decided to allocate slots funds to road paving, although that could be changed by any board. The drainage issue is primarily related to Section 3 (??). Bunting had the county install the piping necessary to get the water out of Section 3 and across Beauchamp Road at zero cost to OPA. OPA needs to make sure the water gets to that outfall pipe. Based on what was said at the board meeting on Tuesday, all the pipes and ditches in the area have now already been cleaned. Maybe we should wait for another good rain to see if the Section 3 problem has been resolved to the point possible given the elevations in the area. Also, keep in mind that a truly heavy, unusual rainfall in a short period, will ALWAYS result in Section 3 flooding, regardless of what we do or spend.... unless we are prepared to spend tens of millions, or more. |
