If our operational loss is reduced to zero the depreciation cost remains. If the golf course were to become a park do you believe the depreciation cost for prior investment in the course will just disappear?
I'm no accountant, but if greens are removed they might not continue in depreciation. There's a million or so right there. However, money issues aside, the real issue is whether or not the association members would prefer the land to continue in use as a golf course or convert it to open space, parkland. I have no problem with association members deciding via referendum. Do you? |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: That low-ball figure has become rather meaningless in the larger picture of what's been going our of the members pocketbooks, the $120 range. Well, you may think so but I don't. The operational loss number is the only worthwhile number that can change. If our operational loss is reduced to zero the depreciation cost remains. If the golf course were to become a park do you believe the depreciation cost for prior investment in the course will just disappear? |
