Section 5: OPA Board Subject: COPE Golf Petition? Msg# 879302

Yes. OK. I've looked back at your message 879236, and I've indeed misqouted your figures. You've clarified that $5 million was the older, initial estimate for the whole drainage project. I stand corrected.
And as I recall earlier discussions, the $5 million drainage project costs have gone substantially higher, partly due to subdividing the work, and spreading it over several years. (probably a decade?). By subdividing the work into smaller expenditures, the earlier BOD avoided the prospect of taking the large total costs to a referendum vote. In a way, that previous slight of hand, finesse (or trickery?) by a former BOD and administration is now coming back to haunt those currently in power. Seems ironic. Seems the referendum idea has good momentum this year, with Steen's backing. So the homeowners sentiments may at last be revealed. Tom |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Joe pegs those at $5 million already spent, and more still to be spent. No, I did not. The only $5 million number I mentioned was that this was the estimated cost for the complete golf drainage project back around 2005-2006. |
