Thanks for the compliment. Trap Pond is the only place I have found where a heron would let me get that close. That photo was only one of very many photos I had taken while trying to get a good picture. Keep trying. I had moved very slowly taking a final paddle stroke while I was some distance away. Then I let the kayak drift very slowly toward the bird while I kept the camera in front of my face and snapped pictures. Usually, I would drift off to the side or the bird would fly away. Luck played a big role. I speculate that the heron had seen so many people in the Trap Pond Park that he didn't think of me as a great threat. Also, if he couldn't see my eyes, he didn't think I was a threat. | ||||||
