You can get a good education in any university if you attend class, study and do the work. The issue comes after you graduate. I know from experience in industry that the grad from a tier one school gets preference over a grad from a lower rated school. It has nothing to do with brains, knowledge or class rank, managers tend to hire the top tier school grad because it minimizes the risk of making the wrong decision. Given the choice of a grad from the Wharton School or the Perdue School of Business a Wharton grad is going to win out almost 100% of the time. I'm not saying it's right, it's just the way the world works. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Excuse me Mr Bauersmith, my daughter graduated from Salisbury and she is doing quite well, thank you. She made the comment to me many years ago that she thought the teachers at SU were quite good. Yes I realized that the school is not in the league with Ivy league schools, but it didn't have the same price tag. I think you unfairly criticize the teachers, you assume that they are at Salisbury because they "can't make the cut". Have you ever thought they may be here for different reasons? Say quality of life? Teaching instead of publishing? There are good and bad in any profession including teaching. |
