For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Back in the day the 351 was a strong runner but the real stormer was the 302 used in the "Boss" mustang, had a limiter on the engine, shut down over 6500 RPM if I remember correctly. My son Jack III on his 20th anniversary in the Air Guard decided to treat himself to a GT 500 Shelby Mustang. It comes with 650 HP and he has modified it to 710 HP. It will do 200 but he only took me to 133 on my first ride. Interesting thing is that it does not feel like you are going that fast but when floored you can feel the air sucked out of the passenger compartment. One downside, he noted, from the old Mustangs is that the new one uses the ABS braking system to keep the car reasonably in line when starting off. Not as much fun. Here are photos of car and engine.
