Joe,
If we are going to have a comprehensive planning committee then they need to do thier job. If not, why not just abolish the committee? It actually makes life easier - maybe for everyone. Ted |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: CPC said they need this study to complete the plan. If so then get it done is my position. CPC said? Ted, if you believe the CPC now, or in the past, or any group up in Salisbury can tell the future, I have a bridge to sell you. Looking at your example, let's just suppose the Salisbury group comes back and say OPA will not need a golf course in 10 years. Do you actually believe any board is going to act on that and not spend whatever it takes to maintain our golf course. The golf course is not going away without some sort of referendum and the odds of one passing are slim and none. The point I'm trying to make is all these well intentioned, great sounding ideas are no more than political theater associated with a bureaucracy. Carol Terry ran that committee for years with her husband as president and a great deal of help from someone at the county. The committee achieved nothing. Now Salisbury University is gonna save us? No way. Just another $14,000 down the sewer. Reminds me of politicians passing gun control laws to show they are trying to control crime in what is no more than political theater. |
