One might also think what people pay for a round is important as well. Surely, to exaggerate, there is a difference at the bottom line between 1 cent a round and $50 a round. In 2014 the cost of sales plus depreciation was about $2 million for our golf operation. Do the math to figure out how many rounds are needed at some per round cost to cover the cost. In terms of rounds, the max possible number is somewhat finite. What is the maximum number of rounds that can possibly be played per year given normal weather conditions. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Tom thanks for your thoughts regarding policy changes...please be sure to share your thoughts with the "board golf liaisons". Some time ago I suggested that we consider offering foot golf that would be enjoyed by youth and parents. Start with 9 holes one or two days a week maybe 3:00 till dusk. I am sure there will be plenty of naysayers among the golf purists...it is done elsewhere with no adverse impact to the course. I think being a resort destination if OP was to offer something completely new and different to the area we might be able to capitalize on some family vacation $s. During the off season local kids could be the primary audience. Say the charge would be $10 a person or maybe $30 for a family foursome it could add some nice supplemental revenue. This could also be incorporated with the park conversion but I feel we need to give it more effort...the attempts thus far have been half hearted. the key is number of rounds...I don't care where they are coming from as long as they are increasing |
