Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Board Reps Meet with LU Msg# 938515

What is not improving is annual and other levels of course memberships.
So long as the bottom line is improving I don't particularly care about all the other politically oriented stuff. And that is all there is, really. It is my opinion that had the BOD continued the Casper contract, the bottom line would have continued to improve and could have perhaps been even better now than LU has been able to produce. Pure speculation, of course. My position, along with your position a year ago, was to give Casper one more year to continue improving the bottom line as Casper had significantly cut course losses. BOD members Stevens, Collins, Clarke and Renaud thought otherwise. Time will tell if they were right. Time will not tell as we have no way of knowing what would happen if Casper remained. This is why it all comes down to bottom line, assuming maintenance, etc. is done properly. Keep in mind that due to terrible board planning over the years, OPA will have more course reworking for golf drainage work. No one is even talking about it for political purposes on both sides, but they know what is on the horizon. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: are you aware the bottom line so far is reported to be better than at this time last year with Casper? Yes, I am aware. Let's hope it keeps improving and the great weather should help. What is not improving is annual and other levels of course memberships. It is my understanding that LU's claim they would significantly improve "memberships" was a large factor in getting the majority of our BOD to vote approving LU as the new course manager. That this significant factor has not come to pass gives me pause that the right decision was made by the board majority. It is my opinion that had the BOD continued the Casper contract, the bottom line would have continued to improve and could have perhaps been even better now than LU has been able to produce. My position, along with your position a year ago, was to give Casper one more year to continue improving the bottom line as Casper had significantly cut course losses. BOD members Stevens, Collins, Clarke and Renaud thought otherwise. Time will tell if they were right.
