There many more courses within a short distance than there were years ago. Now there is a lot of compatision which dilutes the players per course. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: We don't even know how many rounds/year are being played by OP residents at any area courses. You'll have to wait a long time to get back tho those golden years, there is an abundance of commentary with a simple Google search that explains why golf is a declining sport. Here's one to get you started. Those old members are most likely either dead or have moved on in some other way. It seems most "younger" golfers today are happy to play once or twice a month at a resort course with an affinity group. Remember that a round will usually take over 4 hours, closer to 5 hours and effectively cost in the neighborhood of $75 to $100+, not to mention that $400 driver that Jason Day uses, and then you have to buy the bag - $300, the rest of the irons etc - $600, and that putter, another $150. All this with a declining middle class income paints a bleak picture for the future of golf. I think the Marines have an expression that refers to a dead dog that sums up this situation...sorry but it just isn't gone happen because it happened once before. A Horse Park, that's what we need, what a great riding trail this would make! |
