Years ago when we moved here and golf was showing large losses I spoke with a lot of golfers to try and find out what might be the reason for the decline in play. [ I am not a golfer]. At the time Pine Shores North was open with their famous "Buy a hot dog, get a free round of golf" promotion, and attracted many Ocean Piners. I learned that, while the price was certainly part of the attraction, privately several told me that OP was just too difficult a course for them. I believe the average age of our golf membership is over 70 so that may be understandable. The other problems at the time [pre Casper] were a lack of welcoming, cart issues and some golfers playing a system that got them favorable tee times every week to the exclusion of others.  That last issue was always denied UNTIL a new computer system was installed and then I was told that does not happen anymore...implying that it did happen formerly. Personally I don't see anything saving golf other than my last man standing option where OPA outlasts all the other courses in the area using property owners monies to stay in the game until then.
