Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Board Reps Meet with LU Msg# 938272

Bob,
As a part timer here in the pines for now, I have recently played Lighthouse(4 hours) Rum Pointe (4 Hours) Bayside(4 hours)and Baywood today(4 hours). I have also played OP several times recently and have had 2 3 hour rounds and a couple 4 hour rounds. All the courses are in great shape but the cost to play OP is less than any unless you have the Green card. The lowest cost on the green card is $25 and OP is one of several at that price. I did enjoy your post. Larry |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Well, my "story" hasn't changed. The play there is painfully slow. my group regularly plays at Eagle , Bay Club and Lighthouse and finishes in about 3 ½ to 4 hours and includes a mix of walkers and riders. If you haven't seen the "Marshals" hiding in the woods that maybe shows you something about how good they are are how observant you are. As a side, at Eagles and elsewhere, the "Marshals" are referred to a "Players Assistance". I made a suggestion to the head pro that that sounded a little more friendly and the response was that they are "Marshals", frankly I wouldn't be surprised to see them packing. You know, give a little authority to some people and they go all SWAT on you. I don't know who has ever "alleged a majority", perhaps you can enlighten the forum on a source for that statement and just maybe we should have an OP wide poll to determine what the community feels should be done. Has anyone ever done that, or are the BoD and GM a little shy of knowing the direction the community wants to go. I could see where the course was a great amenity in the early development of OP, but since then there has been a pretty substantial proliferation of quality courses, the demographics has changed considerably, and if the community thought it is such a "great amenity" I would think they would be there. As it is they seem to have voted with their wallets and play elsewhere. I'm going out on a limb here but when I was looking at other similar developments developed much later than OP, if a golf course was "included", it was a separate entity and set up to not burden the community with potential debt. And that makes me wonder if the Golf Course is on our Replacement Reserve Fund. I'd go look but then I would have to deal with facts and that's no fun at all |
