I suspect your view of the pool tables is not entirely accurate.
joe, the way I understand this, lines have been drawn limiting where table service may be offered outside, sort of a border. not totally sure, but I may have heard this directly from the horses mouth at a clubs committee meeting when I asked BT about moving the pool tables/seating when pool is closed. and I know bertino was not in office, but he was at the YC addressing a group and during q and a I asked if as a current commish did he see the possibility of seating restrictions changing, and he basically said that the OPA went into this with eyes wide open and if they didn't like it they should have reevaluated the project. former commish judy boggs was in the audience and heard my question, and basically told me the same thing. when it came to the new building it was 'damn the restrictions, full speed ahead.' steve lind |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: sure, but what about the damage he's already caused. Much of it will be impossible to correct. in an earlier post the java bay café was mentioned, a fiasco that basically led to the firing of reinhart (it's bob's way or the highway.) When Java Bay Cafe failed and things went bad overall at the YC, Thompson threw Reinhart under the bus. He did so after a public meeting where Thompson embraced Reinhart when begging the board to allow him to continue in control of the YC rather than turning over to Casper. and speaking of permitting, who the heck signed off on, and agreed to, the counties requirement that seating which has been included in the parking space calculation would not be permitted to be relocated when not being used (ie pool seating, after the pool closes). said table seating could be moved onto the veranda on a busy summer weekend nite for cocktail service rather than setting up junkyard furniture as we do now. (I contacted bertino inquiring about where this 'agreement' originated and who in OP approved it, but did not get a reply.) Bertino was not even involved in any of that. He had not been elected. Thompson is the only OPA person who knows what transpired in negotiations with the county. I suspect your view of the pool tables is not entirely accurate. You could call Worcester County Planning & Development, ask for Ed Tudor, and inquire of him about the facts surrounding this. You will never find out from OPA. |
