We have several trucks coming to where I work and the Food Trucks are high end food vendors serving Niche markets: specialty items, various ethnic, gourmet, organic, desserts, vegan etc. foods and many of the trucks have devoted followers or groupies that follow the trucks from site to site. You'll even see LONG lines for some of these trucks.
It's not my type of dining experience, but it works in urban areas. I hear the permitting and licensing process can be a nightmare. If OP needs anything, it is an old fashioned hot dog cart to sell Sabretts Hot Dogs. M/R Hi Jo-Ann, We have hundreds of them in our area. You can go online to find out the schedules for the week to see what time and date they will in certain places. People stand in really long lines for their favorites. They provide an amazing variety of interesting food. Also, they have caught on as a convenient way to provide good food for special events. One of the neighborhood pools had a Father's Day party and had a Food Truck come. What an easy solution that was! No prep necessary. All that was needed was a trash can. Our section of the Community Assn. had one come over for "Neighbors Night Out on Aug. 3.The fact that a Food Truck coming was advertised, and we had the largest crowd in the neighborhood come to our party. A realtor who had a house for sale close to us near Downtown Silver Spring promoted her Open House with an offer of a Food Truck ticket for taking the tour. The asking price of the house was $998,000. A very large number of people came to the Open House and amazingly enough, it sold for just a tiny bit below the asking price very quickly. It was an older house that had been renovated. I don't know if the Food Truck had anything to do with the success, but it was the first time I had seen that done. It was there for two hours. Food Trucks are great, and certainly serve a purpose. I just don't think we need to provide a pretty much permanent home for one in front of a five million dollar Yacht Club that has a paid staff to cook and serve food from a brand new kitchen. They need to figure out how to make some delicious foods that will attract diners to the facility. No one should have to stand in line to get served from a Food Truck in the PARKING LOT! Nancy |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Nancy... Contemporary food trucks may look tacky on the outside ( but the exterior is their advertising/marketing) however, their menus are usually high end.
