So, let's see ... a $55,000 food truck
A very intersting concept and I am sure one that his staff of experts has developed a very detailed business plan. At one time I thought about something similar. I could have used it at fairs etc. but just did not want the hassle in the end. Anyway, my research showed that 50 grand is on the low end and with the high end costing upwards of four times that amount just for the truck depending on if it was used or a new truck and/or new or used equipment (maybe he had the foresight to save the old YC kitchen equipment-HaHa). If the GM's past history is any indication does anyone truly believe it will cost 50K. I don't. As this is a private association I wonder if one needs a permit to operate? Now there is a positive side. The fact that the truck is mobile it can be used to go to the YC patron's home and bring them a hot or cold meal. I would be all for this especially if it had a catchy tune like the Good Humor Truck. Just think about it we could wait at our door and when we hear the jingle we could run out to meet the chef with a big smile and order our breakfast lunch or dinner. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Maybe the GM wants to buy the Rosenfeld truck, because that is the photo the GM included in his budget. Of course, I do not know, nor do board members I asked, know if the OPA truck will be purchased new or used. Then again you are selling your home and moving, so you will miss out on those $5 hot dogs. The food truck menu for the YC is not a Jewish Deli menu. The truck will be operated by OPA-hired labor. While the GM's budget says banquet food sales will be $451,000 at the YC, he also says the food truck will sell $162,400 worth of stuff at the YC. So, let's see ... a $55,000 food truck is expected to sell as much food there as the second floor banquet facility of a $5 million new YC building. Cost of the banquet food is $157,850, while cost of the food truck food is said to be $56,840. Maybe we should buy a fleet of food trucks. No income is shown for food truck beverage sales.
