. . . . second homes whose owners may be quite well off financially. . . .
Jack As you've said "may be" That's why voting, through a referendum would be an appropriate way to find the will of the folks. Also I'd suggest that those who may be well off financially could have gotten that way by avoiding waste and abuse. For me the pinnacle example of waste and abuse would be to build a new country club for a dying golf course. Repairs and renovations to the existing structure would be more than sufficient IMO. If a referendum indicated the preference for conversion to a park ,nature conserve, playgrounds hiking trails, etc. even the renovations could be downsized. Perhaps the building could be sold off, as is, for whatever use, to some enterprise -- turned into condos, a health club, medical offices, whatever. For example, Chinese restaurants seem to thrive where others cannot. (I'm half joking) Tom |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: And as you ride through all of the miles and miles of wooded areas, one can conclude that these modest homes FAR OUTNUMBER the larger, fancier ones along the canals, etc For the most part I agree with you but we have to be careful of the conclusions drawn from ownership of the modest homes. Half of OP are property owners that do not live here. Many of those modest homes are second homes whose owners may be quite well off finacially. Ocean Pines is one of the few communities I have seen where millionaires may have a neighbor that is on public assistance. |
