Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Money is No Object Msg# 945685

No, it's not a scandal. But you're attempting to make it a scandal. I thought this process was being pushed by the Racquet Sports Association?
It is a scandal because Terry knows full well this expense of $150,000 is solely to do a beginning phase of the entire Manklin Meadows project. What other who voted for this expense know or don't know is beyond me. I suspect they know little. Well, if you have no knowledge of what happened why are you commenting on it? Because in all other occasions when bids are received with differences there was a "leveling" process and the GM explained it to the board. I commented because it is normal procedure. What the board has voted to do is look at alternatives to what was in the original master plan and possibly move forward with Mr. Herrick's motion to use two existing tennis courts converted to four pickleball courts along with adding two paddleball courts. Doing so will result in spending hundreds of thousands less money and bring about essentially the same end. I'm surprised. You really haven't done the research. Terry, Cordwell, Renaud, and Jacobs would have a real laugh seeing what you wrote. If that was truly their intent, then they would never have voted to spend $150,000 before finding out the results of what you say would save hundreds of thousands of dollars. It should also be noted that to accomplish the "same end" will also require additional parking down by the racquet center. Where do you propose the two new paddleball courts be located? Have you even seen the master plan? You keep insisting the $150,000 has nothing to do with the master plan. Pure nonsense. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: This entire process pushed by Terry is a scandal. No, it's not a scandal. But you're attempting to make it a scandal. I thought this process was being pushed by the Racquet Sports Association? To my knowledge there was no attempt to speak with both bidders and attempt to "level" the bids. (bold added by me) Well, if you have no knowledge of what happened why are you commenting on it? Let me add also that any attempt to portray the second motion asking the GM to look into using existing tennis courts for four pickleball courts as meaning the current board majority sees this as a way to save money and forget entirely about the "master plan" is to put forth a preposterous notion. (bold added by me) I don't believe anyone has suggested that the board has entirely forgotten about the master plan. |
