Joe,
You are correct. However, until there is a board majority that does take control I still believe the majority of the blame lies with the board. The board must give specific directions, parameters and time frame for results. If the GM or any employee of the Association doesn't meet those specific objectives it will then be time to consider personnel actions. Larry |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I think the issue that is still not being addressed is the lack of control and direction to the GM on projects. The voting association members have addressed the issue for three years running. Three years ago a political unknown gentleman ran on a platform of firing the GM. He lost to three-time board president Tom Terry by a razor thin 45 or so votes. Two years ago Dave Stevens and Pat Renaud won election on a platform of controlling the GM. This was against three or more other candidates who thought the GM was doing a wonderful job. That lasted until Terry turned Renaud. Renaud sold out the people who voted for him. It is that simple. Last year Herrick was a control-the-GM candidate. He gained more votes than any candidate. Jacobs beat out Trendic (another control the GM candidate) by only about 250 votes and then only due to the front page stories of DWI and other charges against Trendic. I'll say this again -- OPA politics at the board level will not change until there is a new GM. Until there is a new GM the board elections will continue to be focused on the GM and not on what needs to be done. This GM has unfortunately made the position a purely political one, and this for the first time in my 27 years of watching boards. |
